Laser Cataract Surgery

Caplan Eye Clinic introduces our newest advancement: Laser Cataract Surgery

With traditional cataract surgery, the surgeon creates incisions in the eye using a small blade. An opening is made in the capsule containing the cataract with small forceps, and the cataract is removed from the eye using ultrasound energy. While this technique has historically resulted in excellent results, the laser now offers a level of accuracy and precision previously unattainable by surgeons’ hands alone.

Laser cataract surgery is “blade-free” as the incisions are made using the laser. The laser also creates a perfectly round opening in the cataract capsule and softens the cataract for easy removal by the surgeon.

With the advanced 3D imaging system of the Catalys laser, each patient’s surgery is customized to their eye with extreme precision and accuracy. In addition, advanced technology lens implants such as toric or multifocal lenses allows patients the greatest opportunity to live a “glasses free” lifestyle.
