Caplan Eye Clinic was founded in 1938 by the late Harry B. Caplan, MD.

Approaching our 9^th decade, we are the oldest eye care practice in Louisiana and among the oldest in the United States.

We have 3 convenient locations in the suburbs of New Orleans. Our staff includes fellowship-trained ophthalmologists in glaucoma, retina, cornea, cataract, and pediatric ophthalmology.

Our Clinical Trials Department includes 3 staff members who have completed the Comprehensive Clinical Research Coordinator (CRC) curriculum by C.I.T.I.

Recent Studies
In 2023-2026, we performed 6 Clinical Trials with LumiThera Inc & OpZira Inc for their new ERG device.

In 2025-2026, Caplan Eye performed a Clinical Trial with OpZira Inc. “Assessment of Rod Mediated Dark Adaptation (RMDA) in Patients with Age-Related Dry Macular Degeneration (AMD) Following Treatment with Photobiomodulation (PBM).” Daniel I Caplan MD, Principal Investigator.
